PG16- "The Ancient Future" trilogy (?)
Traci Harding is a relative newcomer to the world of fantasy writers. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, she has traveled to both Scotland and England, which helped give her many of the ideas in the Ancient Future Trilogy.
Having recieved overwhelming support, and hundreds of letters, Traci has decided to continue with the story of Tory and her friends in 'The Celestial Triad' which will be published later this year.
Traci's style of writing differs from many who attempt to write about the history of England and it's surrounding countries. Instead of making something totally new up, or following history, she combines both styles bringing to life her stories. She combines the past, present and future in new and interesting ways.
Although the main character is female, the balance between the two sexes is well maintained with both playing major roles within the story.
An author from whom I definately look forward to reading new books.
The Ancient Future: the Dark Age - Tory finds herself stranded near a ring of stones in the English countryside. Not particularly fearing for her safety as she is a black belt in Tae-kwon-do, Tory decides to check them out. Realizing that it is the summer solstice, Tory settles down to do a bit of meditating. Suddenly, she finds herself surrounded by white light then passes out. She wakes the next morning and gathers her things, ready to try and make her way to her Aunts, only to find that she is no longer where she had been. The stones were still around her, but there were changes. The next thing she knows, a group of riders come up to her and start speaking in Welsh.
She discovers that it is no longer 1993, but the year 519. Realising that she no longer knows where she is, she accepts the offer of the riders to excort her back to their home. Along the way she finds that she must prove that she can defend herself and is independant.
She falls in love with the prince, Maelgwn, and finds herself helping him and his land. Changing the course of history forever as she does so.
An Echo in Time: Atlantis - There has been peace for twenty years under the guidance of the High King, Mealgwn, and his Queen, Tory. But that peace suddenly shatters with the reemergance of their foe, Mahaud. With Mealgwn struck with a sudden illness, and war breaking out all over the land, Tory seeks help from the triple Goddess.
The Goddess informs her of an advanced civilization which thrived long before recorded history, which may be able to help her. The women of the Otherworld agree to help Tory, and send her back through time to the realm of Atlantis. Here she must overcome adversity and come face to face with many souls which she already knows, all in a quest to find a cure for her husband.
Masters of Reality: the Gathering - Awaiting Mealgwn's return, Tory sets out to find more of the truth behind her ancestry. To her amazement, she finds that she is not the only tribe of immortals that the Gods have nutured. One by one, allies come to Tory's side to help her as she faces an old enemy who is seeking revenge on the Dragon's kin.
Drawing together many souls which she has known and loved, together they face the enemy, preparing to not only save themselves, but also the Earth and the destinies of many other races.
